Integrated Pest Management

Looking forward to enjoying some lovely spring crops soon? Want to prevent those spring insects from enjoying your crops first? Join Alameda County Master Gardener Susan Fritz to learn how to use the principles of Integrated Pest Management with a focus on the garden pests of spring. Integrated Pest Management is a process you can use to solve pest problems while minimizing risks to people and the environment. IPM is an ecosystem-based strategy that focuses on long-term prevention of pests or their damage through a combination of techniques.

About our speaker: Susan Fritz has been a Master Gardener since 2014 but has been gardening since childhood when she started learning from her parents how to care for ornamental plants. Her love of plants extended to vegetables when she purchased her first home in Fremont. She grows a variety of berries, fruit trees, vegetables and herbs in 5 raised beds in her backyard. She is also a lover of roses and has over 20 rose bushes in her garden! She is the current project lead for the Speakers Bureau of the Alameda County Master Gardeners.
