Rhythmix Cultural Works, 2513 Blanding Ave, Alameda

Have you always wanted to grow some of your own food but didn’t know where to begin? Have you experimented with tomatoes but little else in terms of vegetable gardening? Did you garden in another climate but have yet to try in Alameda? If so, join us to learn ways to increase your edible gardening repertoire.

This workshop will be geared toward beginners. We’ll cover all the basics you need to know to begin planting in your own yard this spring: soil preparation, vegetable selection, seeds versus seedlings, planting and growing timelines, and space requirements.

About Our Speaker: Ann Naffziger is an Alameda County Master Gardener who has been growing food organically in her front and back yards in Alameda for 12 years. She is a former beekeeper who raises chickens and two daughters. She is always looking for ways to cram more food into her limited space to feed her family.
