Make Better Soil – Mar 21

Soil – What It Is and How to Make It Better

with Dolores Morrison, Alameda County Master Gardener

Tuesday, March 21, 2017, 7:00 – 8:00 PM
Rhythmix Cultural Works, 2513 Blanding Ave, Alameda

It’s time to be starting that spring/summer vegetable garden. So join us for a session on one of your garden’s most critical elements – soil.  We’ll talk about what makes up soil, characteristics of soil that impact your gardening, plant nutrients in the soil, how to improve the fertility of your soil, and how your soil affects when and how to irrigate.

About our speaker: Dolores is an avid home gardener and became an Alameda County Master Gardener in 2014.  She has a certificate in Landscape Horticulture from Merritt College and is a docent at the East Bay Regional Parks Botanic Garden in Tilden Park.  In her spare time Dolores is a talented botanical artist.  Dolores is joined by Irene Beebe, who is also an Alameda County Master Gardener with a Landscape Horticulture certificate from Merritt College.  Irene presented our very well-received meeting on seed saving in 2016.
