Your Winter Garden

Monday, September 14, 2015 (6:30 – 7:30PM)
Rhythmix Cultural Works, 2513 Blanding Ave, Alameda

This talk will cover the basics you need to know for planting and growing a bountiful fall and winter garden. It will include considerations for what fruits and vegetables grow best in Alameda’s climate with short daylight hours (think greens and citrus!). We’ll consider the timing of your plantings, how to amend the soil, discuss the merits of starting with seeds or seedlings, and touch on what fruit trees are well-suited for winter planting.

Back by popular demand, our speaker Ann Naffziger is an Alameda County Master Gardener who has been growing food organically in her front and back yards in Alameda for 12 years. She is a former beekeeper who raises chickens and two daughters. She is always looking for ways to cram more food into her limited space to feed her family.
