ABG’s Project Pick Recognized For Reducing Food Waste

The City of Alameda’s December 2025 Sustainability & Resilience News featured an article called Feed Alameda Families with Project Pick (their December edition hasn’t been added to their website yet).

In addition, a November 26th article by Momo Chang in Nosh Dishing on the East Bay (Oaklandside.org and Berkeleyside.org) featured ABG’s Project Pick and its sister organization Oakland Gleaners.

Project Pick serves the population of Alameda, while Oakland Gleaners reaches out to pick and donate fruit in Berkeley as well as Oakland. Kudos to the Oakland Gleaners, founded by Project Pick volunteer Sonja Simmons in 2019, now run by Lio Min and Laura Sanchez. Like Project Pick, they more than doubled their bounty of backyard fruit picked in 2025!
