MORE INFORMATION ON PICKING

  1. Masks are optional while picking (outside).
  2. No one who currently has COVID or has tested positive within the previous week can participate.
  3. You can use your own picker or sign one out from Project Pick.
  4. You will be assigned one location at a time. The homeowner will have already been contacted about your arrival.
  5. You can bring your own cardboard boxes or grocery bags to load the fruit in. If you don’t have any, we will provide you with them.
  6. The boxes or bags of fruit should be delivered to near the ABG van at 839 Oak Street, Alameda (where it will be weighed and delivered to the Alameda Food Bank).

Age Requirements for Project Pick Volunteers

Students 11 – 15 years old must be accompanied by a parent, guardian or responsible adult, and both must have a signed waiver on file. Children under age 10 will not be able to participate with Project Pick. Other volunteer opportunities may be available to this age group. Students aged 16 – 17 and over may participate with Project Pick on their own at the discretion of the Project Pick Coordinator or pick leader, and a parent or guardian must also sign their waiver. Students 18 and above may participate and can sign their own waivers. Students who participate may receive community service hours if they bring the correct paperwork from their schools. The Project Pick Coordinator or other adult volunteers can confirm their participation hours and sign their school forms.
