Stop Food Waste

Food waste is a huge problem, and ABG wants to help you learn how to reduce it.
Did you know?

  • 40% of all food in the United States is wasted
  • 25% of all fresh water we consume goes to produce food we never eat
  • 135 million tons of Green House Gas emissions are created by the food we never eat

These numbers are for our whole food system—farms, processors, retailers and households. But households alone are a significant part of the problem. The average American household throws out 25% of the food they purchase and the average US family of four tosses out more than $1,600 a year in wasted food.

Reducing food waste is an easy way to trim your grocery bills and reduce your environmental footprint. It only requires small shifts in how you shop, prepare, store and serve food.

Join Maricelle Cardenas of StopWaste.org to learn more about the problem of food waste and how you can be part of the solution.
