Everyone is invited to attend the Spring Open Garden at the Native Habitat Garden at Bay Farm School (200 Aughinbaugh Way) on Saturday, May 17 from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon.
This award-winning garden is more than just a school garden. It’s an incredible collection of native plants, a passion project for Mr. Nettles (1st Grade teacher at Bay Farm and native plant expert), and is turning into an educational space through a native plant phenology project being conducted by students and teachers.
The garden was recently featured in an article in the Alameda Post, written by Kristen Smeal and Mr. Nettles, and was also a stop along the US Dept. of Education Green Strides 2023 tour.
Celebrate the beauty of native plants in full spring bloom at the school’s Bay Farm Native Habitat Garden! Stroll through the garden at your own pace, enjoy the seasonal colors, and discover how native plants support local wildlife.
At 11:00 AM, don’t miss a special talk by Mr. Nettles, who will share insights into native gardening, habitat restoration, and how you can make a difference in your own backyard. This is a free, family-friendly event—everyone is welcome
