Compost Happens

ABG has long promoted composting to improve soil and to keep organics out of the solid waste stream. Adding just 1-2 inches of compost to your soil can do wonders for your plants - it helps your soil retain moisture, improves its structure, and helps your plants access nutrients.

Where does this valuable resource come from? Check out StopWaste’s new video “Compost Happens!” and meet various composters in Alameda County. You’ll follow Claudia, who composts in her backyard to create a beautiful garden, Joyce who uses worms to compost
food scraps in her apartment kitchen, Elaine from LEAF who composts at an urban farm to grow food for local pantries, and Brian who makes compost on a large scale at his commercial facility from materials similar to what we put in our green bin.
