Today our Project Pick volunteers harvested close to 300 pounds of lemons and organges that will go to the Alameda Food Bank tomorrow. That’s 300 pounds that won’t end up in the landfill and will help feed our neighbors. Thats called a win- win! we 🏆

So far this year we have picked over 4,000 pounds of produce.

If you have a fruit tree that is in need of harvesting and you would like to donate the harvest to the Alameda Food Bank, sign up on our website at alamedabackyardgrowers.org.

Chris Tam

Landfill is not where they end up if unpicked. Food for roof rats or green bin

Love this!

That’s so great!

I didn't realize that it's lemon season. I haven't looked at my trees for a while, So I've missed a few seasons, so all the fallen leaves and lemons will compost in place after all the critters have their fill.

Just Awesome 😎

Thank you to Scott Piehler from “Alameda Connections” for letting me talk about Alameda Backyard Growers and what we do (teach people to grow their own food!) You can listen at KCSM HD2 or if you don’t have an HD radio, you can stream it on KCSM.org ... See MoreSee Less

@kcsmjazz91 -HD2 when my guest will be Liz Warmerdam, president of @alamedabackyardgrowers. We’ll discuss their many resources available to island residents, as well as their Project Pick program that turns excess harvest into needed donations for the @alamedafoodbank. No HD radio? Stream the show from the KCSM.org website. #alameda #gardening #gleaning #foodbanks
