How You Can Help Rescue Food and Feed Your Community

Farm2Market, part of Alameda Point Collaborative, is a 2-acre farm on the west side of Alameda. Along with growing fruit and vegetables and distributing them through a CSA, Farm2Market, in partnership with FoodShift, runs a grocery rescue program. Each Wednesday, F2M bags 500+ pounds of produce that would otherwise be thrown out by grocery stores, adds fresh farm produce, and delivers the individual bags to 60+ members of the APC community!

A big part of making this program work is their ability to deliver these groceries in individual paper or plastic bags to community members, and they use over 250 bags per month! If you, like many of us, have been hoarding bags under your sink – feel free to stop by the farm at 2600 Barbers Point Road to drop them off! Farm2Market would also appreciate your help in enlisting your extended community – maybe holding a paper bag drive at your place of worship or office, asking a listserve for your neighborhood, or reaching out to your childrens’ or grandchildrens’ school or Scout troop. Every donated bag helps!

Please reach out with any questions to Sarah Miller at smiller@apcollaborative.org with any questions about drop off or pick-up from your porch!
