This interactive presentation will provide an overview of the central tenets of integrated pest management (IPM) as illustrated by several IPM programs for specific pests of Bay Area urban garden systems.
Speaker: Dr. Andrew Sutherland is the Urban IPM Advisor for UC Cooperative Extension and UC IPM in the Bay Area, serving Alameda, Contra Costa, San Francisco, San Mateo, and Santa Clara counties. He holds advanced degrees in entomology and horticulture and has been classically trained as an IPM practitioner. He serves as a conduit for IPM-related information and resources for urban pest management professionals, municipalities, schools, and public housing. He also conducts a regional applied research program developing and evaluating IPM strategies and tactics for key urban pests.
